If you’ve been trying to get a March vaccination appointment, you can relate to the frustration of the countless people who have tried for hours, sometimes every day, trying to secure a spot.

Now, it only takes a few minutes and there are a lot of options, but the fact that appointments are not filling up quickly is alarming some local residents and leaders.

On Thursday, City Councilman Mark Levine tweeted that there are thousands of appointments still available at the Javits Center.

He wrote, “This is the most popular immunization center in NYC. Until now [appointments] usually go for a few minutes. This is a deeply worrying development ”.

He went on to say, “Our challenge is no longer managing demand. It is delivering [vaccines] for those who need it and build confidence in this life-saving solution. “

Many people have responded, expressing concern that there may be an increase in the rate of vaccine hesitation after discontinuation of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Major Bill de Blasio and the municipality’s medical commissioner, Dr. Dave Chokshi, says the city has received more robust supplies of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and that their growing availability has no reason to alarm.

“Vaccine supply is weekly, but we have seen that those times, including lately, have been an increase in Moderna and Pfizer, and that has been very helpful, especially especially with the currently suspended J&J vaccine, ”de Blasio said. “You can go online and receive an appointment at any time, that’s ideal. That’s great. Definitely seeing a decrease in hesitation… We think there’s a ‘bigger wave of people we can reach. “

“Now there is a longer period … before they get filled, and it’s very important to make sure we are reaching the people we want to reach regarding vaccination,” said Chokshi. .

Meanwhile, Rep. Jeff Dinowitz was annoyed when the city closed a popular pedestrian spot in the northwest Bronx.

“What does this mean now for vaccine accessibility in that neighborhood?” Jessica Layton of CBS2 asked.

“I’m not sure what people over 75 will do,” Dinowitz said.

The city needs learning space as students head back to class, moving the site 3.5 miles towards Edenwald YMCA.

“Obviously obvious on the Bronx,” said Dinowitz. “Every community in every zip code must have easy access.”

Now that many appointments are made, the city says it will make efforts to reach out to the community to ensure that everyone who needs vaccination is vaccinated.

“What measures must be taken before the Americans regain freedom in the First Amendment?” Jordan said.

“I’m just telling you… We’re not talking about liberty. We are talking about a pandemic that has killed 560,000 Americans, ”said Fauci.
