The two top seeds, Ashleigh Barty of Australia and Simona Halep of Romania, respectively scored victories in Friday’s quarterfinals and advance into the semi-finals at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.
Ukraine’s No. 4 Elina Svitolina joined them, surpassing Czech No. 7 Petra Kvitova by 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-2.
Svitolina needed two hours and 37 minutes to win the match, saving 13/16 break points (81.3%).
Belarus’s No. 5 seed Aryna Sabalenka will meet Halep after winning a three-set marathon in two hours and 28 minutes, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 against Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit.
Halep overcame Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-1, 6-4, saving 8 out of 10 break points while winning 70% on the first serve.
Barty struggled to overcome Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, winning 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Pliskova was perfect at break points but only had three such chances throughout the match.
In the decisive third set with Pliskova’s serve, Barty netted 13 out of 18 second service points while Pliskova only earned five out of 15 from Barty’s second.

Belgium’s top seed Elise Mertens beat Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals, where she will meet third-seed Veronika Kudermetova of Russia.
Kudermetova defeated Romania’s Ana Bogdan with the score 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The remaining semi-final match has the presence of a pair of players who are not in the world.
Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk beat Croatia’s Ana Konjuh 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, while Romania’s Sorana Cirstea advanced after winning the first set, 6-4, against Fiona Ferro. of France (NYSE :), who had to retire.
