DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) – Bo Bichette fought slugger Aaron Judge in the power department and had to make the final move.
“I think I’m just starting to heat up,” Bichette said. “I think I’ve honed for a while. It’s the part of baseball, you fight until you start to feel good. Now that’s a good feeling. “
Bichette threw the ball from Chad Green (0-2) in the opposite direction to the right center field as Toronto led 2/3.
Bichette mounted his career to a high level with an 11-match record. He had three hits and also stole a base.
Alejandro Kirk also joined the Blue Jays. Rafael Dolis (1-0) worked ninth to win.
The Judge takes two turns to go home for the Yankees, who have gone two to four on a road trip. New York also lost two-thirds at Tampa Bay.
“Those are little things,” said Judge. “I looked back, those were the fundamental mistakes, the ones off the pitch, not coming with just a clutch shot. There are a lot of things. For me personally, a few things I need to do to help put this team in a better position to get better results. “
The Yankees scored 23 goals in six games away from home.
“Not consistent,” said Judge. “That’s the word I keep coming back to. Not always have quality racquets, put the ball in play when we need it, hit on the situation. “
Toronto won 3-3 with a regular home season’s first home ball at TD Ballpark, its spring practice home ground.
Blue Jays will broadcast their first three homes through the end of May in Florida because of COVID-19 restrictions in Canada. The team used the Triple-A Stadium in Buffalo, New York, as home last year and could return there later this season.
The Judge drove the Yankees’ first run in the first turn of this season on a solo track with TJ Zeuch. They were the tournament’s last major team to score in the first match.
Judge’s second song and Gio Urshela’s double single, gave New York a 4-3 advantage in the fourth round.
Kirk hit a two-way hit in the second half and Bichette connected in a solo shot in the third with Corey Kluber, sending Blue Jays 3-1.
Kirk has failed in 13 bat fights this season.
Toronto had Cavan Biggio tagged to finish fifth as he crossed the third base on the third base. Blue Jays filled the bases with no appearances in the next inning, but scored only once on a wild pitch.
Kluber, starting third after being limited to one half from May 2019 until this season by injuries to his right forearm and right shoulder, allows for three runs and six hits in four innings.
Zeuch skipped four runs and four hits in four innings. He gave the name to the Ross Stripling, who was scratched by the tightness of his right forearm.
COLE AND QUESTIONS
The rotation behind the Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was a concern as the season entered and the other starters’ overall numbers were in doubt. They have a 1-4 combined record, allowing 28 runs and 48 hits in 36 2/3 innings in nine matches. Cole was 2-0 in three starts. He gave up three runs and 12 hits in 18 thirds.
Yankees: SS Gleyber Torres (right ring finger hurts) started after being out of match on Tuesday.
Green rag: Closer up, Julian Merryweather attended the 10-day IL with a tense left cross.
Yankees: New York has not announced its starting pitcher but options include RHPs Michael King and Deivi García for Friday night’s game against Tampa Bay.
Green rag: Toronto can start RHP Tanner Roark (0-1) or use a bullfighting day with Kansas City’s RHP Jakob Junis (0-0) on Thursday night.
