The death toll since the start of the Burmese anti-coup protests yesterday hit 600: this figure was reported by the Association for Supporting Political Prisoners (Aapp).
According to Thailand-based nonprofit human rights organization, 12 people were killed on Wednesday, while another 5 people have been killed in recent days but not included in the total: total number of accidents 598. Currently, moreover, 2,847 people are in prison.
Meanwhile, the Burmese ambassador to the UK, Kyaw Zwar Minn, said that the Burmese army had “occupied” the embassy. “When I left the embassy,” they broke into the embassy and took it, he said. “I’m from the Myanmar army,” he added: “They said they had received instructions from the capital, so they wouldn’t let me in.”
