COFFEE fans were furious this morning when the app crashed for some due to high demand for its 50p beverage offer.
The chain is offering a three-day discount this week to mark its 50th birthday.
But many customers were disappointed this morning (Tuesday) when the application – which the customer needed to use to access transactions – paused.
Many people have taken to social media to express their disappointment.
Amy Murrer wrote: “I’ve been trying to log in all morning. Really disappointing because I was expecting my 50p Costa. “
Another said, “Come on, Costa! If you run an offer, make sure your digital teams are ready! “
“It was a nightmare,” said a Costa worker. We arrived early this morning because we knew we were going to get it easy, and by 7:30 a.m. the app was down. We fear this might happen.
“Obviously that’s just the sheer weight of the number of people signing in. A lot of people who go back to stores have been drinking first and are smoking.”
Under the terms of the deal, the coffee chain will sell all hot beverages in just 50 minutes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
From April 13 to April 15, registered Costa Coffee Club mobile app users will only be charged 50p per hot drink as long as they scan the app on purchase.
The deal includes special drinks like Flat-White handcrafted oat milk, signature Hot Chocolate or even the newest addition to the menu, limited edition Toffee Spiced Latte.
But there are some restrictions because you can only add up to three types of fortified milk or one milk substitute.
