Savvy mother Lorna Cooper, from Paisley near Glasgow, shared a £ 20.21 shopping list she vowed to feed a family of four for the entire week.

Budget-friendly recipes include lunch and dinner breakfasts and cover everything from traditional-style cakes to scotch pancakes.

Lorna learned to cook on a tight budget at the age of 11 when her mother passed away – and she was inspired to share recipes after a “£ 30” government parcel was found to contain only £ 8.69 worth of shopping.

“I want to show people how they can make more on a small budget with my weekly meal plan,” Lorna said. “Hopefully this will help some families who are financially struggling as a result of the COVID pandemic and unable to access free school meals.”

Furthermore, products on the shopping list can be found at most major supermarkets – although Lorna recommends shopping around for the best price if you can.

“Most of the products on the shopping list can be found at Tesco, eggs from Farmfoods and stockpiles from Aldi,” she said.

“Sometimes it’s best to shop around, it might be less convenient, but it makes a huge difference to your budget.

“If you can’t afford to go to many of the nearby supermarkets, then it’s best to check out the ‘basics’ range of the local supermarket as they are usually as good as some branded products.
