Hong Kong Now Has Its Own Political Prison – Radio Free Asia


A draconian National Security Law imposed by Beijing over Hong Kong in mid-2020 has led to the terrifying tradition of the Chinese Communist Party of imprisoning political prisoners. With more than 200 of the city’s pro-democracy figures once free in some form of detention, one local media gave basic advice on how to write letters to Hong Kong prisoners, It includes instructions on how to find prisoners of conscience and warnings that do not include glitter, gifts or “content that mentions illegal activities.” Not long ago, Hong Kong’s pro-democracy community organized annual Christmas card writing campaigns to encourage dissidents and imprisoned Chinese human rights lawyers.
