Easier said than done, we know, but let’s do our best to draw inside the lines. A single swipe of stray polish may not seem like everything, but you don’t want the lacquer to stick to your cuticles. See, the paint on your skin will flake off faster than the paint on your nails; If your varnish is stuck between your skin and your nails, when the last coat of paint comes off your cuticles, the polish on your nails will come off with it.
But you know, mastering a mani without error is pretty hard. Try this safety tip for a smear-free set of nails: Before applying the foundation, sweep the circumference of the nail with an oily balm, especially on those cuticles. The jelly acts as a barrier between your skin and your nails, so if you put a little polish on your cuticles while painting, it should be easy to wipe off afterwards.
