NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Long Island Railway The conductor is honored for returning more than $ 100,000 worth of jewels left behind on a train.
LIRR President Phil Eng praised conductor Jonathan Yellowday for his honesty.

He found a jewelry box in a plastic bag on a train from Penn Station to Washington Harbor on Thursday night.
The box contained 36 engagement rings, some with diamonds, worth $ 107,000.

They belonged to a Manhattan jeweler who mistakenly left them on their way home.
“It is almost bogus. I was thinking, this couldn’t be what I thought, and then for sure, oh wow, it really was, oh boy, I have to get it back to the police ASAP, ”said Yellowday.

The conductor handed the rings to the grateful owner when they met on Friday.
