Mets’ deGrom hit 9 in a row, 1 more than Seaver’s record – CBS New York


DENVER (AP)New York Mets Vase Jacob deGrom beat nine in a row against Colorado on Saturday, falling once from the grand tournament record set 51 years ago by the Great Mets Tom Seaver.

DeGrom became the ninth pitcher to score nine consecutive goals.

He started the streak with a third shot called against Josh Fuentes in the first half of the second, then swung by Sam Hillard and Dom Nunez.

He eliminated Chi Chi González, Raimel Tapia and Ryan McMahon in season three, and Trevor Story, Charlie Blackmon and CJ Cron in season four.

Fuentes set the score 0-1 in the fifth minute and fouled second player Jeff McNeil’s throw-in, ending the streak.

Detroit’s Tyler Alexander is a pitcher who has previously scored nine in a row, making his streak on August 2 against Cincinnati.

Seaver set a record against San Diego on April 22, 1970, beating his last 10 beaters in a 19-hit performance.

Colorado took a 3-1 lead over deGrom then in the fifth half when Nunez hit a RBI triathlon, who hit Yonathan Daza on target with a dead fly and Tapia went home. All three runs were not performed because of McNeil’s fault.

DeGrom beat 12 to five innings.

Despite the 78th deGrom 2.06 ERA starting since the 2018 season began, New York is still 36-42 with him on the mound.
