MANHASSET, NY (CBSNewYork) – A man on Long Island allegedly broke into a woman’s hotel room and stole her money but handed over his driver’s license when confronted.
It happened around 3am Friday at the Travelodge hotel on the North Avenue stay Manhasset.
Michael C. Lee, 29, who is staying at the hotel, allegedly broke into another room by pushing an unlocked sliding window and encountered a 33-year-old woman who was staying there.
Police said the woman had called on her boyfriend for help, and the couple asked Lee why he was in the room and asked for his identification.

According to the police, Lee gave them his driver’s license but then ran away.
After he ran away, the woman noticed her money was lost and called the police.
The staff later found Lee and arrested him.

Lee was charged with theft and possession of drugs.
