NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) There’s a new effort to better care for seniors in New York City.
Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the 5-year “Community Care Plan”.
The $ 50 million initiative focuses on expanding equitable access to premium services. It calls for 25 new upscale centers in underserved neighborhoods, and includes funding for premium transit services and shopping assistance.
“We have to do more for our seniors, now and for the future, and we have to approach them in new ways. There are many communities where there is not enough support for our seniors, ” Major Bill de Blasio.
The plan also calls for expanded home care support and home meal delivery.
