Olive Oil Ice Cream is coming soon – and without milk

Oall the cooking oils out there, olive oilIn particular, the dish is loved by doctors and nutritionists. Golden pantry staples are packed with antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, both of which have been linked with brain and heart health benefits. It is also the oil of choice Mediterranean diet, mainly because olive trees grow in abundance in this region of the world, but also because of its rich flavor, which goes well with everything – even ice cream.

Yes, you read it right. Your favorite pantry staple is now the star of this new line of plant-based ice cream, Wildgood, is currently on sale at Wegman’s and will be available to purchase online starting next month. Olive oil is a part of everyday life for Wildgood’s founder, Sotiris Tsichlopoulos. These fruit trees grow just outside his family home in Greece, and oil is practically used in every meal he eats – except for dessert.

So it was amazing how it stared out in his plant-based ice cream. Tsichlopoulos said: “When I first started making a milk-free ice cream, my two goals were to have the same cream as premium dairy and deliver satisfaction without compromising the flavor taste. “Olive oil has proven to be the perfect ingredient for both of those goals. “This allows us to create a creamy texture without using any milk replacements.” (In a sweet nod about his childhood, the olive oil Tsichlopoulos used to make hand-pressed ice cream at his family’s home in Greece.)

But perfecting his olive oil cream recipe went through some trial and error because water and oil don’t mix. In the end, Tsichlopoulos says it took eight years to get eight flavors in the correct line – these include mint chip chocolate, hazelnut chocolate, coffee and mango, all made from the Natural ingredients such as chicory root fiber, cocoa bean, organic cane sugar, pea protein, cocoa butter and vanilla extract. And olive oil also not only adds flavor and texture. One serving has about 1.5 grams of unsaturated fat (depending on taste), which are the perfect eight of what is recommended for the day. Sure, it’s not one your of omega-3, but it’s definitely more than the average cream out there.
