It happens around 11:30 am on Thursday at the 96th Street metro station.
Police said a woman was sitting on the Q train stopping on the south side of the station as a man approached her.
He was accused of aggressively pointing at the woman’s face and giving some insulting statements to Asians before getting off the subway.
The woman was not injured.
The hateful crime-fighting task force of NYPD is investigating.
Police have released the suspect’s photos, including a cell phone photo taken in the incident.
