Sorokin made 36 saves and raised his club scoring record for a rookie to eight straight wins, and Anthony Beauvillier netted 3:41 in extra time to help New York win. 2-1 against Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night.

“Maybe it’s a clearing,” Islanders manager Barry Trotz joked when asked about the goalkeeper’s performance.

The 24-year-old Sorokin has only scored 11 in his series of individual victories.

“He’s just unbelievable,” said Oliver Wahlstrom.

Wahlstrom also scored for the Islanders to lead the East. New York won 11 out of 13.

Oskar Lindblom scores for Flyers who are in decline, who have lost their eighth time in 12 games.

Philadelphia surpasses Islanders 37-19.

“We came to play tonight from the start,” said Flyers coach Alain Vigneault. “We’ve got some nice looks. At the end of the night, their scorer is the difference. “

With a winning goal, New York took advantage of Shayne Gostisbehere in the Flyers’ area. Jean-Gabriel Pageau sent a pass to the back of the net to Beauvillier, who beat Brian Elliott with a backhand.

“It was one of those instinctive plays,” said Beauvillier. “It just happened and you hope for the best. I was lucky it touched his skates and went into the net. Sometimes you get lucky with it ”.

New York has taken two out of three from Philadelphia in the three-game mini-game series. The Flyers won the opener 4-3 on Thursday, and The Islanders won 6-1 on Saturday. Both competitions took place on the Islanders’ home turf.

Lindblom gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with 7:57 remaining at the second goal, scoring his fifth of the season from close range thanks to an assist from Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek.

Wahlstrom tied it to 4:06 in the third half as he pounced on a loose ball in front of the crease and shot high past the sprawled Elliott.

“Just a healing target that I can bury,” Wahlstrom said.

Elliott, Philadelphia’s regular substitute, started from the start and was supported by Alex Lyon. Carter Hart, Philadelphia’s main starter who has been in trouble recently, spent the entire day working with coach Kim Dillabaugh.

Aside from the results, Elliott liked the way the Flyers played.

“It was a really good game from many aspects of our team,” he said. “It’s a good building block and shows us how we need to play every night.”

The Islanders were originally scheduled to play in Boston on Tuesday, but instead they will have a day off after the match is postponed due to the COVID-19 protocol with Bruins.

“Whenever you have the opportunity to rest and recover from anything at this point is great,” Beauvillier said. “Everyone is physically and mentally affected. We will try to do our best and come back stronger. “

Flyers C Sean Couturier returned to the squad after missing Saturday’s game at Islanders with a hip injury, and Gostisbehere returned after having been benched for the previous three competitions.
