Stages man perform a false emergency involve FDNY, pregnant woman proposing to a nurse’s girlfriend – CBS New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A New York man staged an elaborate hoax just so it ended with him kneeling in an extravagant proposal on the streets of Manhattan.

When Amy Marshall was walking with her then-boyfriend, Mike Matthews, last Friday in the Upper West Side, she noticed a pregnant woman in distress.

The medical staff asked for help, so Marshall, a longtime nurse, jumped into the action.

“Like a superhero. It is perfect – ‘Is there a nurse? Is there a doctor? ‘and then you jump in. That should be the best feeling. And she never had that experience in New York City, ”Matthews told CBS2’s Nick Caloway.

Until now.

But the whole thing was staged.

FDNY got in, and so did the fake pregnant woman going to the emergency room.

While Marshall was in nursing mode, Matthews dropped to one knee.

When she turns and sees the ring, Marshall throws the glove out angrily, realizing he has been tricked, obviously a bit mad, before finally saying “yes”.

Videos of elaborate proposals have been watched and shared around the world.

“It’s about New York. That is everything about healthcare staff. That’s everything about FDNY including. I said, ‘That is the pinnacle of all that. We have to do that. ‘And she was very shy and that embarrassed her. And I like to be shy, ”says Matthews.

The two have been together for 2 and a half years.

They had their wedding date set, though Matthews never formally kneeled.

“But that’s what’s missing, like, we’re really not engaged yet,” he said.

They plan to get married in Central Park on May 6, this is National Nurse Day.

Matthews and Marshall plan to have a small wedding, then a big party in December when more people are vaccinated.
