The Knicks scored the first 10 points of extra time.

“We have had a lot of challenges throughout the season and sometimes they don’t go our way,” Randle said. “But for now, we are looking for a way to end the game and win the game.”

Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley each scored 20 points for New York. Reggie Bullock adds 18 and RJ Barrett has 16. Nerlens Noel has 12 rebounds.

“This is a playoff style atmosphere,” Quickley said. “As an NBA player, you have to be ready to step up.”

Trae Young had 20 points and 14 assists for the Hawks, but left the match with 1 hour and 13 minutes remaining in the third half after suffering an ankle injury and failed to return. The X-ray was negative and he is scheduled to have an MRI scan on Thursday.

Chris Capela has 25 points and 22 rebounds for Atlanta. Bogdanovic scored 20 points. John Collins finished with 18 and Kevin Huerta 17.

Atlanta took an 11-point lead, 95-84, as Knicks’s Norvel Pelle was called in to make an Onyeka Okongwu shot with 1:47 left in the third half.

Young left the game shortly after and the Knicks took the advantage, advancing to fourth place in the East Conference with victory.

“We were looking tonight to get started,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau. “But, we have a real team. When we go down the field, we want to play our best. “

The Knicks pulled in the second round 109-107 in the second second of Quickley’s 3 consecutive pointers with 7:01 remaining, then took the game lead with a score of 116-109 on the 3 pointer of Rose with 4:46 left.

Lou Williams added 11 points to the Hawks, who have won nine of their last 11 games.

“I’ve seen a lot of battles from our boys,” said Nate McMillan. “We don’t have enough extra time to win this game.”

Eagle: Atlanta’s last win at Madison Square Garden (114-107) was on January 21, 2018.… The Hawks have won 5 straight lane matches against rivals from Eastern Conference.

Knicks: Randle, the current East Conference Player of the Week, was the first Knicks player to win that title since February 2017 (Kristaps Porzingis).

Only one player from each team has seen action in all of his team’s matches this season. Kevin Huerter has played all 59 games for the Hawks, starting at 44. Barrett has played and started in all 60 games for the Knicks. Randle and Solomon Hill have only missed one game this season.

Neither the Knicks nor the Hawks make the playoffs for quite some time. Atlanta has not seen post-season action since the 2016-17 season, while New York has not entered the knockout stages since the 2012-13 campaign.

The Knicks have won all three meetings with the Hawks this season. New York has not been able to wipe out Atlanta since winning all three games in the 2012-13 season.
