The Nets’ winning streak ended in 6 games with defeat to magic – CBS New York

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – The Orlando Magic escape a tough defeat en route by returning home with their best shooting performance of the season to put an end to the nine-game streak.

Aaron Gordon has scored the best 38 points of the season, Evan Fournier added 31 points and Magic staged an angry rally in the fourth quarter to defeat The brooklyn network 121-113 on Friday night.

The Magic lost to the Knicks one night earlier the night 94-93 in New York. With a chance to win at the last seconds, Fournier made a pick-and-roll foul and angrily ripped off his shirt.

On Friday, Fournier and the Magic made a slight mistake at 51.2% and made the best 21 3-pointers of the season.

Fournier, who shot 10 in 13 and 6 out of 8 over 3 seconds, said: “It was great because we showed a lot of courage after a very difficult loss. “We fought really hard against the best team in the East and got the ‘W.'”

The Magic passed Kyrie Irving’s 43 best of the season to stave off Brooklyn’s winning streak after six games. The Nets also have a franchise record, winning on the stopped eight-game path.

Irving, to whom the Nets have lost for the first time since February 27 and the second time in 16 games, said: “This is what it feels like to lose. “We don’t want to have too much of this feeling, so please learn from experience and move forward.”

Orlando took a lead of 103-84 at the end of the third inning, but the Nets opened the fourth inning 16-1. However, Brooklyn won’t come any closer to 104-100 after Gordon and Fournier resurrected their magic. Gordon leaned in a balloon to give Orlando a 114-105 lead and his 3 seconds later sealed the win.

“We did a bunch of shots and as (Brooklyn team assistant coach) Mike D’Antoni once said, ‘When you have the energy, you shoot better,’ said Steve Clifford, who that Magic won for the first time since February 21, says.

Two nights after rallying from 16 points down in a win in Indiana, the Nets tried to get their second major comeback in a win. However, the Nets were unable to get through a secluded night by superstar defender James Harden and some slow play outside Irving’s 19/31 shot.

Irving scored at least 40 points for the third time this season, but he has only seven points in the fourth. Harden won a streak of 14 consecutive games with at least 20 points when he finished with 19. He only made 4 out of 16 shots and 2 out of 9 3s.

Gordon was 14 out of 20 and 7 out of 8 in 3 seconds to easily beat his last season high of 24 points. Nikola Vucevic added 22 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists.

“It was a great all-round game for our team and we showed what we can attack and defend,” Gordon said. “It shows good resilience.”

In the second half, Magic extended the lead to 103-84 by taking 14 out of 21 shots and 6/9 of 3 in the third. Gordon made all five shots in his third inning and got 33 points at the start of the fourth inning.
