The NHL fined Leafs’s Joe Thornton $ 3K for meddling

NHL fined Toronto Maple Leafs striker Joe Thornton $ 3,017 on Friday for meddling in Thursday night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

With 7:29 remaining in the third half of Toronto’s 5-3 win, Thornton dominated Mathieu Perrault while the Jets forward was far from goal.

Thornton, 41, was fined two minutes for interfering with the play.

Thornton had one assist in that game and had 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 35 games this season for Toronto.

The 23-year-old has 1,522 points (423 goals, 1,099 assists) and 1,256 minutes of penalty kicks in 1,671 games against Boston Bruins, San Jose Sharks and Leafs.
