The Yankees manager, Aaron Boone, made the announcement ahead of the match.
“He actually came to me at the beginning of the series,” said Boone. “He told me his thoughts.”
Bruce is 34 years old, a midfielder won the All-Star three times. He went to spring training with the Yankees on a small league deal and was included in the major league roster as the first reserve player when Luke Voit suffered a knee injury.
Bruce is hitting .118 with a homer and three RBIs in 39 appearances on disk, and he’s still active for Sunday’s match.
He has averaged .244 with 319 host players and 951 RBI over the 14 major league seasons with Cincinnati (2008-16), New York Mets (2016-18), Cleveland (2017), Seattle (2019), Philadelphia (2019-20) and the Yankees.
Mets acquired Bruce on trading term 2016. He hit a streak of 0.219 with eight host players in 169 club beats for the team that season and traded for Cleveland the following year.
After the 2017 season, Mets signed Bruce with a three-year contract, worth $ 39 million.
He was re-transaction by Mets in 2018 in a deal also sent top prospective Jarred Kelenic to Seattle to buy Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz.
