Use the Virtual Assistant to expand your social network

has grown a lot over the years and today with more than 700 million users, it is social media platform for professionals.

But most people don’t use it anywhere as effectively or efficiently as possible. It’s a pity too, as I know firsthand the positive effects it can have when used properly. I used LinkedIn to hire employees, explore partnerships and land transactions. And I want to help you get more out of your efforts on this platform.

I’m working on my book specifically for LinkedIn mastering and would like to share some insights on how to leverage virtual assistants so you can focus on the high-level activities that only you can. Do and completely perform the lower level quests. your plate.

Start with your strategy

Your strategy includes branding and positioning, messaging style, and how you develop and nurture relationships.

The most important question you need to answer now is, why are you doing this? What are the benefits of being even on LinkedIn?

Once you know that, you’ll be able to come up with a plan and outline the details. From there, you can decide which parts of the LinkedIn effort you want to handle yourself and what you want to assign to make the most of your time.

Process is very important

A lot of people like to recommend it to social media. That can work when you handle every aspect of it yourself, but it’s not a very efficient use of your time. On the other hand, you can’t just hand it over to the assistant and say, “Take care of LinkedIn for me”.

Without a documented process, checklists of tasks and explanation of your strategy, even assign only certain parts of your LinkedIn marketing to your virtual assistant. will fail.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

I’ve taken both approaches – from handling every aspect of LinkedIn to porting much of it to virtual assistants myself. What I found out was that although virtual assistants saved me a lot of time, I had to first map out a detailed roadmap for them.

Robert Nickell, founder of virtual assistants with more than 800 people Rocket station, explaining why that is essential. “You can’t give a task to someone inexperienced and expect them to do your thing unless you have outlined the exact process for them to follow,” says Nickell.

It’s too easy to assume that anyone you designate to take care of on your social network will get it, but that’s unrealistic. Nickell continues, “There’s a lot of knowledge in your mind that you take for granted, so you often won’t even realize that the average person doesn’t know how to do what you do.”

Nickell’s company takes the same approach as me. They document their processes for their customers. In my case, I record my screen when I’m on a task and I explain what I’m doing and why. Nickell’s company uses a screen-sharing mode and watches customers go through the steps. “We will even ask them to explain their thoughts along the way so we can understand exactly how and why they do what they do,” he said.

When you document your process at this level, you are allowing your virtual assistant to consistently perform the tasks you assign them to the standards you expect.

Optimize your profile

A lot of people ignore this important aspect of their LinkedIn marketing efforts because it’s more fun to focus on creating content and engaging with people. This hurts them more than they realize.

Think of your profile as your first encounter with a prospect. The first impression is important, so you need to get it right. Your profile should be complete and attractive, but it should be updated regularly.

Initial optimizations can be handled by you or someone who specializes in LinkedIn profile optimization, but constant updates are a perfect task to hand over to virtual assistants – as long as you have the process. for that.

Some of these updates include:

  • Update your contact information
  • Update your profile
  • Update your profile photo and banner
  • Add new skills
  • Update / add featured items (LinkedIn allows you to recommend posts, articles, links and media)
  • Add achievements (LinkedIn allows you to publish publications, patents, awards, and more in a special section of your profile)

Nickell explains that a good way to assign this lower level work to the assistant is to outline the exact steps they must follow, then assign the task through a project. systems like Teamwork, Monday or Basecamp to make sure nothing gets through the cracks.

Post your content

You might want to maintain control over your content creation, but you don’t need to actually post it – anyone can.

Because batching your posts is significantly more efficient, you can get ahead by creating posts that are worth up to a month at a time, and then have your virtual assistant post them on LinkedIn. for you.

There are some good scheduling tools out there, but I’d rather ask someone to do the posting. If your virtual assistant manually logs in to LinkedIn and posts your content naturally, you won’t be subject to any of the detection mechanisms that LinkedIn imposes to devalue content posted through a website. tool and if something goes wrong, your assistant will see it right away and be able to fix it before it makes a bad impression.

Commitment to take risks

You can choose to have your assistant handle some or even all of your interactions, such as responding to comments and DM. This can be effective, but you need to approach it with caution as whatever they tell you will be treated directly from you. If they get messed up and say the wrong thing, or worse, say something offensive, the results can be disastrous.

I like to be heavily involved in my own participation, but I let my virtual assistant handle some of that work. For example, if someone sends me a direct message asking about the free guide I provide on the podcast, I can ask my assistant to reply and send it to them. I don’t have to participate in that conversation. But if someone sends the DM inquire about the venture opportunity, that’s something I want to take care of myself. One of the most valuable things virtual assistants can do for you is delete annoying spam messages from people you don’t know are providing you with irrelevant services.

“The key in cases like these is to start with very specific rules about the type of comment and the DM your assistant should respond to,” says Nickell. When they prove they can handle it, move on to more complex situations ”.

He said it’s important to have a list of people you specifically don’t want your virtual assistant to join, possibly including close friends or people you regularly do business with. This is important because these relationships will have nuances and ways of communicating with them that an outsider will likely never be able to recreate.
