In the first three months of 2021, according to Deloitte’s data for FIMI, vinyl, for the first time since 1991, returned to surpass CDs in Italy. In the first quarter, despite a slight increase, vinyl, up 121% year-on-year, generated more sales than CD, down 6%.
In a market dominated by streaming, with around 80% of sales, vinyl now accounts for 11% of domestic music sales. Overall, in the first quarter, the Italian market grew 18.8%. Still strong insistence on revenue from subscriptions to streaming services, up 37%.
